The Monroe County Sheriff’s Foundation is a non-profit organization, established in 1991 by then Monroe County Undersheriff Patrick M. O’Flynn and the former Monroe County Sheriff Andrew P. Meloni, and a group of respected community business leaders.
Its premise is to fund special Monroe County Sheriff’s Office projects and programs which are not possible with Monroe County taxpayer funding alone. Donations to the Foundation help enhance Community Service programs on crime prevention, drug and alcohol awareness, and safety education, to name a few. The Foundation also provides funding for specialized equipment that aids the Sheriff’s Office in crime investigation, public safety services, and equipment for the Sheriff’s Communications Office.
The Foundation’s primary fundraiser is the annual Golf Classic. The money raised from the Golf Classic helps to fund Monroe County Sheriff’s Office programs, including, but not limited to, D.A.R.E. and the Sheriff’s Summer Camp initiative. The D.A.R.E. program provides children and adolescents with education on the safety and prevention of drug and alcohol use. The Sheriff’s Summer Camp Initiative provides at risk and/or under privileged children and adolescents an opportunity to attend summer camp, with Monroe County Sheriff’s deputies as role models, for little to no cost to the camper and his/her family.
We are the ONLY foundation that gives 100% of our donations to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office. YOUR generous donation stays right here in OUR community, benefitting our neighbors here at home.
